Statement on the Anniversary of the CDC Shooting
As we mark the one year anniversary of the tragic shooting at CDC, we pause to remember Officer David Rose, whose selfless sacrifice saved lives, and to honor everyone whose lives were forever changed that day. We also hold Officer Rose's family close in our hearts, recognizing the immeasurable loss they continue to carry.
The past year has tested the CDC community in profound ways. Yet through grief, healing, and uncertainty, CDC employees have continued to show extraordinary resilience and an unwavering commitment to protecting the health of the American people. Their dedication reminds us that public health is not just a profession. It is a calling.
The National Public Health Coalition stands with the entire CDC community today and every day. We are also deeply grateful to the Atlanta community for its compassion and steadfast support, including Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, who have been strong advocates for CDC and the people who serve there.
As we remember this difficult anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting CDC, strengthening public health, and ensuring that those who dedicate their lives to protecting others have the support they deserve. Together, we will continue to fight for the vital role of public health and the healthier future every community deserves
